The design team Reyes+Larrain designed Mayazul at the same time they were building the luxury hotels Rosas y Xocolate in Merida and Casa Grande in Morelia. The are two houses on the property that can be rented together or separately. The small art deco house Casa Vieja was restored and updated and Casa Nueva was constructed in the garden. The two house share a private entrance and car park. The houses were designed for a large family who lives between the Yucatan and Mexico City. It is a very popular home for family reunions an wedding parties.
Casa Vieja has two bedrooms, one with a king and the other with two queens each with their full baths. There is an outdoor living room in the portico adjoining the kitchen. There is a small pool at the end of the portico. Casa Nueva was constructed in the garden with maximal use of cross breezes and light. The house has three bedrooms each with ensuite bathrooms. There is a large living and dining room that adjoins the kitchen. This is mirrored on the terrace with another large table and seating area. Here there is a large pool and garden. One of the bedrooms is on the second floor where there is roof terrace. The houses may be rented together or separately. Mayazul is located two blocks from Mejorada Park and four blocks from Santa Lucia Park.
